I’ll Go On The Top (You Go On The Bottom)
Phil Doleman
I was catching that Super Chief, from Chicago to Los Angeles
An’ everyone else, it seems, had the same idea
I found a seat next to a pretty girl, who said, “Won’t you join me sir?”
I said, “Thank you, mam, I’ll sit right here”
Night time came and the porter with it, he folded the seats and made up the linen
And she smiled… and said to me
“I’ll go on the top, you go on the bottom
You know I’d like it better that way.
I’ll go on the top, you go on the bottom”
I didn’t know what to say
She said, “You’re so big and I’m so small,
“I’d hate to get squashed if you were to fall”
“I’ll go on the top, you go on the bottom
You know I’d like it better that way.”
“I’ll go on the top, you go on the bottom
You know I’d like it better that way.
I’ll go on the top, you go on the bottom”
I didn’t know what to say
She said, “Hold my hand while I climb on
I need to go slowly or I might hurt someone”
“I’ll go on the top, you go on the bottom
You know I’d like it better that way.”
“I’ll go on the top, you go on the bottom
You know I’d like it better that way.
I’ll go on the top, you go on the bottom”
I didn’t know what to say
She said, “The bunk down there is kinda springy
An’ I know I’d end up with something sticking in me”
“I’ll go on the top, you go on the bottom
You know I’d like it better that way.”
